With this collection we wanted to touch upon the rise of Artificial Intelligence and the merge of digital and physical space. The blend of human sensuality and technological roughness through a retro-futuristic lens, inspired by 80s cyborg movies and science catalogues.
The goal was to create one outfit in a group-collection for Gucci. As a group we had to perform trend-forecasting and created a toolbox from which everyone designed one look.
I was especially inspired by one retro-futuristic image of a doctor peeling away the human skin of a cyborg, revealing the mechanical inner life. With prints and hardware I tried to recreate this feel of an opened robot merging human sensuality and technological roughness.
In the motherboard print I crafted Gucci logos with parts of the electronics and screen-printed it on a sheer mesh-top. For the pants, I was inspired by sand textures and edited them into a metal print that I screen-printed on an organic cutout. The metallic piping and zipper details on seams further contribute on the technical roughness in the outfit.
Metallic press-buttons on sleeves and body allow the wearer to clip up the jacket revealing the motherboard underneath and the “skin” lining.
